University of North Dakota High Altitude Balloon Project
Who we are:
We are a group of University professors, staff, students, and
amateur radio operators who all
share an interest in technology and space. Our personal interests in the project are as varied
as our backgrounds. Space environment research, remote sensing, meteorology, electronics,
computer control, telemetry, power generation, mechanical engineering, radio propagation,
tracking and package recovery all come in to play when designing, building, launching, and
(hopefully) recovering a scientific balloon payload. The project is also teaching us about
other areas, such as project coordination, finance, and coordinating with government
angencies such as the
FAA. Our current base of operations is the
Space Studies Department
of the
University of North Dakota
, located in
Grand Forks, North Dakota. We are also associated with the
Upper
Midwest Aerospace Consortium.
